Do People Metrics Matter

Do CXOs care about People Metrics?

Not really... No. And they shouldn't.

What a CXO Actually Cares About:

-Revenue per Employee.

-Customer Satisfaction.

-Operating Margin.

-Innovation Velocity.

-Market share.

People Metrics can be great indicators of SOMETHING. But when they stand alone, without context, and without directly being tied to business KPIs - they serve no legitimate business purpose and tell no compelling story. This is where there often becomes a disconnect between HR leaders and CXOs.

Instead of randomly dashboarding People Metrics just to show "work is being done", HR leaders must approach People Metrics with an understanding of their relative impact to business outcomes, using each as a measurable workforce lever, with an ability to demonstrate the impact to the business - or - they probably should just stop using them altogether.

At Meklen, this is part of what we do in the HR Transformation space. We help HR leaders connect people strategy to business performance, so the efforts are valuable and the impact is provable.

We built this infographic for HR leaders to make those connections visible.

♻️ Share with other HR leaders who could use this to tie their People Analytics efforts to things that matter to CXOs.
